In the Philippines, Star of Hope is working primarily with preschool through high school. We work in three areas; Taytay, a shantytown outside of Manila, Crame and Infanta. The goal of school activity is to give children from poor slum areas quality education and chance for a better start in life.
An opportunity for education
Through school activities, both children and their families feel there are people who see their plight and want to help them to make changes. In addition to schooling, the children also receive nutritious food and regular health care. Combined, these three create hope for the future. It is impossible for a child to escape poverty if he or she cannot read or write, or is always hungry or sick.
Help in many ways
In addition to the three schools, we give support to children attending public schools. Poor families in the slums receive food parcels. Adult education, helping street children, providing disaster relief when necessary; all of this is carried out under the umbrella of demonstrating the love of God toward these people as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
