Star of Hope Finland started to work in Lithuania in 2005 and is currently active in two cities; Birzai and Zarasai. It began as a project to renovate a run-down retirement home spearheaded by Star of Hope Finland. Thanks to the effort of Star of Hope and several Finnish companies active in Lithuania, the materials and manpower required to completely renovate both the inside and the outside of the home was provided. The home is now a model for retirement homes in Lithuania.
Today most of Star of Hopes work in Lithuania revolves around institutions catering to people with special needs and invalids. In Birzai the mayor decided to open a center which would receive and handle transports from Star of Hope loaded with supplies intended for the poor, people with special needs and institutions that cater to the same group
