What We Do

Email Print PDF

We are working to create a world where children become educated, healthy adults who are involved in their communities and share their love of Jesus Christ  In order to affect this long term result we have chosen to make every decsion we make with the best interest of the children in mind.

Children are given access to education of many different kinds. Pre-school, elementary, high school and in some special cases univerisity level schooling is made available to those in our projects. With knowldge the child can grow into an adult that makes informed reasoned decisions helping themselves, their families and communities.

Wellness is a intregal part of our work. Children who feel good, learn better and play harder! Wellness speaks to physical health, emotional health and living in a clean environment. We teach health in our schools and work with caregivers to improve their care for children with special needs.

Children are being taught to be involved in their communities and engaged in family life. Good interpersonal relationships and good citizenship go hand in hand. Learning to be involved with others is central to creating a society that functions well.

Christ taught that as we go about our work, we are to make disciples. Faith forms an important part of each of our lives. Therefore, the Christian message is included in most of our projects. Some projects are openly sharing the gospel, while in others we are showing the gospel through and how we conduct ourselve in daily situations and by caring. As we carry out our various projects, our staff is always ready to explain that we are doing this in Jesus name and because we want the very best for them.

Check out the links to the left for specific examples of what we are doing in education, health, social intergration and faith. You can be involved.

What Happens When You Share Your Faith

Email Print PDF

Star of Hope Haiti staff witnessed to Yves over a two year period. Yves listened but was convinced that even though Jesus was more powerful than the voodoo spirits he worked, he could make more money with the voodoo spirits as a healing priest.

Yves had a small plot of land ajoining the church and Star of Hope school in Boyer. Being that close he watched with intense interest as the church leaders served the people. Then in 2008, a StarTeam made up of the youth group from First Baptist Church came and worked hard. They painted, put on a roof and held a "Vacation Bible School" for the children. They slept on the cement floor of the school and ate Haitian food and bathed in the river or with rain water. He listened.

After another StarTeam arrived after the earthquake, he asked the pastor of the Boyer church if the StarTeam could come back because he decided to accept Jesus as his savior! He and his family made the commitment. Yves destroyed all his voodoo trappings and he and his wife wanted to get married! Watch this video to see the excitiment. Pastor Tracy was part of a StarTeam that was in partnership with Live Like Jesus Today Ministries.

Today Yves and his wife still live next door to the church and school. Because of the real practical outworking of faith, sponsors here in the USA have provided funds that have allowed the church in Boyer to hire Yves to help.! Star of Hope is at work sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. You can help make it happen with your gift.

"Ark" Needed. Will You Help?

Email Print PDF

I am asking for your help in the purchase of the new crewcab 4x4 pickup that is needed for the ministry in Argentina to move forward. Right now that ministry is crippled. Every donation matters as we reach for the $68,200 needed to put a new truck into the hands of the dedicated team in Argentina. To see how make to make your donation click on the donate button below.

Argentina. For the past 20 years the old Ford F-100 CrewCab pickup has been making its way over some very rough roads carrying the love of God to the ethnic Toba people. It has done its job well and has been repaired many times. The Star of Hope staff fondly calls it the 'ark'.  But today, the engine is shot, the body has so many rust holes that the mechanic says it is time to put it to rest. It cannot be repaired again.

This vehicle carries evangelists, equipment, food, patients and children everyday.  It is a Sunday School bus, a special needs bus, a sports team bus, and a cargo truck. It routinely is loaded with sound equipment and trundles its way to the rural areas to conduct church and youth meetings. It is needed to continue and expand the outreach to more children and their families.

Right now the Star of Hope team in Argentina is forced to divert funds that should be doing ministry to rent transportation, just to meet the urgent and emergency needs. I feel this must not be allowed to stand! Pablo Johansson, one of the Pastors at El Buen Pastor, told me that they are confident that God will move the hearts and wallets of His people. After all God, could move people to provide 2, 3 or 4 trucks if needed. Kenth, Pablo, David and the others are only asking for one.

The total amount needed is $68,200 and just as soon as the funds are available, they can buy the truck and put it into full service.

Please join us by giving whatever amount you can. Every gift helps.

Family Food Program - Argentina

Email Print PDF

Food distribution to vulnerable children and their families from minority groups in northern Argentina began in the 1980s. Every month we share food parcels with food staples to those in need.

In support of educating children, this food assistance program means so much to the families. Many of these families in the Chaco Province, about 1 200 kilometers north of the capital Buenos Aires, lack sufficient food to give thier children a good start.

The people belong to the tribe of Qom, which is their real name. They are often called Toba as well.

Would you consider helping a familly this Christmas with a package of food stuffs? Your gift would mean so very much to a child and her family.

Does Sponsorship really work?

Yes, it does! The vast majority of our sponsored children finish primary school and many go on to higher education. In the process, you as a sponsor are extremely important! With your gift you are not only giving material support, you show that you care, this caring increases the children's self-esteem tremendously. The children and their parents get hope that we can change a seemingly hopeless situation.

You can read about some former sponsored children who now live a completely different lives than they would have; without sponsor support.

Here you can fin the big list of questions and answers.
